FAQ

1.

CAN PIGMENT PASTES ALSO BE USED TO CREATE TRANSPARENT COLORS?

Yes!  The reccomeneded mixing ration is no more than 1:10 with all pigment pastes and powders.  If you do only a fraction of this mixing ratio, you can produce transparent colors.  The less you add, the more transparent they will appear

2.

CAN EPOXY PIGMENT PASTES BE USED AS A PAINT FOR COASTER EDGES?

No! Epoxy pigment pastes are specially formulated using epoxy resin in a raw form.  Without mixing the epoxy resin pigment paste into a two part epoxy resin system, the pigment paste will not dry out.  They can only, and should only, be mixed in epoxy resin.

4.

SHOULD I WEAR PPE WHEN WORKING WITH EPOXY RESIN?

YES! Absolutely you should be wearing the recommended PPE which is an organic vapors respirator, safety goggles, gloves, closed toe shoes, hair tied up, and no loose clothing articles.  Your health is sacred and must be protected, even when creating art!

5.

CAN EPOXY RESIN ART DAMAGE THE ENVIRONMENT?

Yes! Epoxy resin art can damage the environment if it is not disposed of correctly.  Some epoxy resins are recyclable, however, some are not.  Please refer to the original manufacturers guidance to find out if your resin is recyclable.  Contact your local waste management services to find out how to dispose of your epoxy resin waste.  As an artist, we have an exponential responsibility to be mindful of the waste we produce and how we are reusing, and recycling our tools and products.

6.

MY EPOXY RESIN ART IS STILL STICKY/TACKY, WHAT DO I DO?

The most common reason your epoxy resin is still sticky or tacky is due to improper mixing.  Make sure you are following if your resin requires a weight or volume based mixing ratio.  Also be sure to scrape the sides of your mixing cups and the mixing stick itself.  To fix a work that is still sticky or tacky, use alcohol to remove the uncured resin, and pour a new clear coat over the top.  It will look good as new!
